The Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway welcomes you to the “KING OF ROADS”, the first scenic highway in the United States.  This historic Oregon road serpentines the cliffs and waterfalls near the southern shore of the Columbia River in one the most beautiful places on earth, the Columbia River Gorge.

The Columbia River Gorge, an 80 mile passage through the Cascade Mountain Range, bisects the states of Washington and Oregon in the Northwest USA.  It is noted for its fabulous scenery, numerous waterfalls, steep rock cliffs, windsurfing, verdant growth and nearby fruit orchards all showcased from this historic highway.

Mission:  Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway support the restoration and reconnection of the historic highway through the Columbia River Gorge.

Vision:  Our vision is to restore and preserve the existing drivable portions of the historic highway to their splendid 1920s appearance and link drivable portions with pedestrian and bicycle accessible connections, creating a continuous route through the Columbia River Gorge.

The fifth annual Gorge Ride 2011 took place June 11th. If you were there, you know it was a fun day with fair weather, beautiful views and great food. If you weren’t there, we missed you … but it’s next year already, and we promise it’ll be even better – we’re well into the plans for it, and…
